Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road, Manchester, CT 06040: an 1866 French Second Empire theatre and community hall designed by Hammatt Billings for the Cheney Brothers silk company and dedicated by Horace Greeley in 1867. A contributing property of the Cheney Brothers National Historic Landmark District and billed as the oldest operating theater in Connecticut. Owned by the Town of Manchester, leased via the Cheney Hall Foundation to the Little Theatre of Manchester, which has made it its home since the 1991 restoration and manages it for performances and community, civic and private events.
